Why Somatic Movement Matters

Martial development isn’t just about learning techniques—it’s about learning how to better organize and understand your body under movement, pressure, and change.

Somatic movement helps students develop greater awareness, coordination, adaptability, and ease within their training, creating a deeper connection between technique, structure, and embodied experience.

Restorative Mobility

Over the years, I’ve noticed that many students come to training feeling stiff, restricted, or disconnected in their bodies—especially when trying to apply what they’re learning in class.

What many don’t know is that I used to struggle with chronic lower-back pain that nearly crippled me. It wasn’t until I became certified through NASM with a specialization in Corrective Exercise that I finally began understanding how to restore healthier movement patterns and long-term function.

If you’re looking to feel more mobile, grounded, and supported in your body, I’d be honored to help guide that process.

Services

  • Manual Release Work
  • Hands-on pressure and percussion tools to reduce restriction and improve tissue quality. Assisted Stretching
  • Breath-led stretching to support mobility, recovery, and healthier movement patterns. Corrective Exercise & Strength Integration
  • Movement-based support for stability, joint function, resilience, and long-term physical development.

Qigong & Internal Development

We Might Be Giants

Qigong has been a foundational part of my personal wellness and martial development path. It helps me slow down, listen inward, and cultivate a deeper relationship with breath, structure, awareness, and internal balance.

For students interested in more intentional internal development, I offer one-on-one guidance in practices that support grounding, sensitivity, energy cultivation, and meditative awareness.

Practices Include

I offer one-on-one guidance in the following practices:

  • Hermetic Internal Alchemy
  • Han Yang Ru Yi Gong
  • Iron Shirt Qigong

Strength & Conditioning

I learned the hard way that stretching and foam rolling alone weren’t enough to resolve long-term dysfunction. It wasn’t until I began integrating strength, stability, and corrective movement patterns through NASM’s Corrective Exercise specialization that I started experiencing meaningful change.

Whether you’re looking to improve resilience, support healthier movement patterns, or incorporate more skill-based training into your routine, these sessions are designed to support sustainable strength and long-term physical development.

A great teacher

I have known and worked with Dan for the past five years in a Martial Arts setting. As a teacher he is patient and has insight into what is needed for his student’s success. He has a deep understanding of the human condition. He has a strong desire to help others adapt and overcome the challenges we face as individuals. He provides not only guidance with the physical challenges we may face but also the mental support that we may need when trying to better ourselves. I know this because he has helped me in so many ways. I have a better understanding of my physical self from working with him. He has personally helped to be more flexible while building strength within my body. He has helped me to better understand some of the struggles that I have had in my personal relationships with offerings of wisdom and understanding.

Dan really knows his stuff

All I have to say is that Dan really knows his stuff when it comes to stretching and foam rolling certain muscle groups and making sure he provides you with the tools and know how to do it at home as well! Love the fact that he also focuses on what you want out of the session and is very flexible with his schedule. I definitely would recommend Dan for anyone dealing with tight and sore muscle whether it be your legs, back, shoulders, hips.

Workouts and stretching

Martial arts is only half the formula. I wanted to improve my body in mobility and flexibility for learning this martial art. Dan has taught me a variety of Chinese yoga and stretches, stability training, cardio, and strength training exercises to have my body in synchronization with this martial arts. Thanks to Dan’s coaching my body has improved dramatically since I started a year ago in mobility and flexibility. There’s still much room for improvement which I look forward to seeing more positive results through his guidance and training.

I feel healthier, lighter, more secure in myself

I found Dan through his expertise in martial arts, but I later discovered his multiple modalities (energy healing, circuit training, confidence building and other things) through our sessions. It’s been a few months now of working with him. I feel healthier, lighter, more secure in myself, more knowledgable in Wing Chun, and generally more in tune and grounded. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor. He is very stoic, patient, and willing to shape a structure with you for your healing journey.
